Accomplish All Things.
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel District is a “political subdivision” of the Commonwealth of Virginia and employs approximately 160 employees.
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to provide the traveling public with a safe, cost effective, and unique driving experience across the scenic Chesapeake Bay
Our Vision
We envision the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel to be an important part of an integrated transportation system that serves both a local and a national population. We see the District accommodating the traveling public in a friendly, helpful manner and attracting visitors to the Eastern Shore/Tidewater area as it showcases the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay.
We further envision the District as an efficient operator of an improved parallel bridge and tunnel system. We see completion of the current expansion ultimately providing the traveler with a safe and cost effective means of getting from one side of the Bay to the other. Additionally, we envision increased traffic that produces adequate revenue for improvement projects and that keeps tolls at reasonable rates. We see a financially viable District providing greater service to contiguous populations, while remaining sensitive to the local community and the environment.
Finally, we envision the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel District as an example for similar enterprises elsewhere. We see the Commission and the general population in agreement about their common interests, and served by employees who are efficient and dedicated, and who consider themselves to be part of a team.
