| The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel recently awarded a
project to Repave Fisherman Island Causeway, North Approach and South
Approach Roads to Virginia Paving Company of Norfolk, Virginia in the amount
of $1,036,503.40. This is an asphalt overlay project and generally consists of furnishing and placing Asphalt Concrete Pavement, SM 9.5D, on existing roadway surfaces for a compacted thickness of one and one half inches (1.5"). This work also includes the pavement markings, bringing manhole covers flush with the new overlay surface and placement of shoulder runoff aggregate. |
| Work began in May 2011 and the placement of more than 13,000 tons of asphalt and 475 tons of shoulder aggregate was completed on June 15, 2011. |
