Just in time for the Independence holiday, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel opened the doors on July 1 to Virginia Originals & Chesapeake Grill. The new food & beverage and retail concessions are located on its southernmost island, One Island on the Bay, and have undergone several months of extensive renovations.
The newly renovated facility included Chesapeake Grill, a casual yet full-service restaurant featuring a complete menu including breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a focus on local seafood entrees, fresh-made soups, salads and grill items, using locally-grown and harvested ingredients as much as possible.
“Grab and Go” items are available for those travelers that are in a hurry and need to get back on the road. A new bait and tackle shop located on the north side of the building will open soon and begin offering equipment rental, fresh bait and assorted tackle for sale. Additionally, outdoor dining is now available for customers that wish to stop, stretch their legs and take in the views of the Chesapeake Bay. Those not wanting to brave the elements of the outdoors may enjoy seating in the casual dining or lounge area of the restaurant, which also includes free wi-fi.
The new Visitor Information Center, staffed and operated by the City of Virginia Beach, offers tourist information to travelers heading to the Hampton Roads area.
The Virginia Originals store offers a retail shopping experience that is sure to please customers as it features all that is good about the Commonwealth. With hand-selected gourmet foods and wine, children’s items, clothing, customized gift baskets, and souvenirs, Virginia Originals is sure to have that “something” for everyone!
