CAPE CHARLES, VA – In an effort to keep its travelers informed of up-to-date traffic and weather conditions on the facility, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel has joined Twitter. Twitter is an online social networking and micro-blogging service that enables users to send and read short text-based messages known as “tweets.”
Though the site will not be monitored 24/7, the CBBT plans to use this social application to disseminate current information regarding wind restrictions, potential delays, or other incidents that may impact travelers.
Twitter users may begin to follow the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on Twitter via the Twitter handle @FollowTheGulls. Customers that don’t want to create a Twitter account can still receive the CBBT’s tweets as text messages by using Twitter’s FAST FOLLOW service.
To use FAST FOLLOW, text “Follow followthegulls” to 40404. Standard text message rates do apply. For more information on using FAST FOLLOW, please click here.
