CAPE CHARLES, VA –
The
Chesapeake Bay
Bridge
and Tunnel Commission awarded several contracts at its regularly scheduled
meeting of January 8, 2008.
Skanska USA
Civil Southeast Incorporated of
Virginia Beach,
VA
was chosen through a competitive bidding process to perform tunnel and trestle
scour remediation along the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.
This $19 million project will involve the placement
of 270,700 tons of stone in varying locations along the facility and the
contractor must complete the project within 510 calendar days.
All of the work will be conducted from the water so
no traffic delays are expected to occur as a result of this project.
Sanford
Actuarial and Benefits Consulting of Rockville, VA was awarded a contract to
provide actuarial services related to the District’s Retiree Health Plan and the
corresponding Other Post Employment Benefits Liability.
All requested services will comply with legal
mandates and the District’s reporting requirements under Governmental Accounting
Standards Board Statement No. 43 and No. 45.
Additionally,
the District was authorized to enter an agreement with Marsh Inc. of
Richmond,
VA
and Brown & Brown Flagship of Norfolk, VA
to
provide an insurance proposal for the District’s Bridge Floater and Loss of
Revenue Coverage placement.
Specific insurance markets have been assigned to the
selected brokers.
The District’s current coverage expires on
March 31, 2008.
